The Beat Back Seasons Part 1: Midsummer Night Stuff









Pg. 13: You're not supposed to be able to read the text, but if you're wondering, it says "Don't turn around."

Pg. 15: I couldn't think of a way to do vertical text in English that I liked :( That, and I wanted an expression that had water/liquid in it, but spilled milk didn't sound as serious as water :/

This is what started everything.

I had some trouble making up a reason why Rukia wouldn't want to go to school all of a sudden. But I convinced myself that girl drama would be a really good reason. I even had a mini backstory about how lolicon lover and school idol Shigeru-san confessed to Rukia in the beginning of the week, but Yuri-san, the closet fetish wear collector and queen bee from the neighboring classroom got pissed because Shige-kun was her reincarnated lover who was tragically decapitated by Mugan from the Shamploo clan over ownership of an female bull.

Anyways.

My dialog changed quite a bit while I was typing up, and it was hard to make Ichigo say anything out of concern because he's... not really good at saying those things :/

I'm surprised how fast I churned this out. The only problem is the next arc...

Huh, somehow I missed the second half of this on [info]ichi_ruki. So I'm glad you reposted here!

What really strikes me, reading this, is what a good storyteller you are. The art is lovely, even in its rough form (and I like seeing the sketchier panels-it's fun to see how it begins before it gets polished), but this really feels entirely like them. Like this is how it could really happen in a time period where they're not preoccupied with fighting and all that. The panel where all the reactions are flying in the background and through Rukia's head really sums up her emotional dilemma. Really, her voice through the whole thing is good.

sdghakdghsakdgaskh IDK I REALLY LIKE IT. Even if it were just a text story I think I would really enjoy it, but a doujinshi version is just ace. I WANTED TO GIVE YOU MONEY FOR THIS WHEN/IF YOU PRINT IT.

I don't know if I can add all those little side stories into the doujin .___.;; Maybe I'll pull a Kubo and make a mini side story in between a few pages. Like "The Diary of Shigeru: Lolicon Connoisseur Lady Killer".

But I also want to show Tatsuki bringing peace to the whole situation.

XD I'm not really egging you on to draw a whole side story on that, but MAN, it is hilarious to imagine.

I posted it on Saturday so it's still on the first page, about 5-6 posts down.

I won't make a whole comic on it, but I'll prolly whip out a few sketches to illustrate it :D (BECAUSE I WANT TO LET PEOPLE KNOW WHY RUKIA DOESN'T WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL AND HOW AWESOMENESS FOLLOWS HER WHETHER SHE LIKES IT OR NOT).

I have a feeling that after I make the fall, winter and spring arc (this is summer), I'll have a really, REALLY big doujinshi on my hands @_@;;

It's like doujinshi... except better because it's in English :D

I know a printer that prints fanwork off the record, and while I haven't used them, but I've heard alot of good things about them :3 And they also do full-color pages (though I'm not sure if that counts for anything ATM)

I also know how to use InDesign and all that jazz, so I have FULL POWAAH OVAR LAYOUT >:D

I'm not sure how many people I want in on the project if I really follow through with this :/ I'm really picky when it comes to doujin/artwork... And there's also page count... D: WAH

EXCELLENT. That sounds full of awesome. English-language fandom can use more doujinshi.

Let me know if you can use any help! I know how to use InDesign and similar software too :D It was one of my majors in college, basically. (Visual communication technology. Too many syllables.)

If we ever get a 16/18+ book, I'll see if I can put in some hardcore snogging and some nekkidness llD (I was hoping that Sun/Moon would be put in print after we see how the all-ages book does)
